AI for Health: From Data to Discovery

AI for Health: From Data to Discovery is a two-day STEM workshop designed for high school students interested in exploring the future of healthcare, technology, and innovation. Hosted by the Medical Center of the Americas Innovation Center and STEM Lab in partnership with Workforce Solutions Borderplex, this hands-on experience introduces students to the fundamentals of artificial intelligence and its growing role in healthcare, biomedical research, public health, and scientific discovery.

Led by Ivan Gris, Chief Technology Officer for the City of El Paso, students will engage in interactive activities that explore machine learning, healthcare data, biomedical visualization, and emerging technologies such as virtual reality. Participants will learn how AI systems are trained, analyze real-world datasets, and discover how technology is transforming healthcare and life sciences.
