Noemi Herrera Rojas – Director of Communications
Noemi Rojas serves as the Director of Communications for the Medical Center of the Americas (MCA) Foundation. She provides strategic communications counsel to the MCA Foundation, including services in writing, editing, events management, public affairs, and media relations. Upon joining the MCA, her first course of action was to spearhead the creation and development of the region’s first-ever life sciences e-publication, Synapse. The project included forming an editorial board, building and managing a subscriber list, creating an editorial charter and budget, and changing the mindset of writers, editors, and public information officers in the Paso del Norte region to give more coverage to the life sciences.
Prior to the MCA Foundation, Rojas was a Senior Public Relations Specialist with the University of Missouri-Kansas City (UMKC) where she provided PR services and national media outreach on behalf of the School of Medicine, the School of Dentistry, the School of Nursing, the School of Pharmacy, and the School of Biological Sciences. Rojas' career began in journalism, having worked for several daily newspapers around the country including The Kansas City Star, the St. Cloud Times (Minnesota), the El Paso Times, and the El Paso Inc. She has written about health care and medicine, education, entertainment, crime, and breaking news. Her experience also includes copywriting for agencies such as Sanders\Wingo, a full-service advertising agency specializing in minority marketing, where she wrote advertising copy for Sierra Providence Health Network (Tenet Health Systems), The University of Texas at El Paso, Sprint Wireless (regional), and other agency clients.
She graduated with distinction from The University of Texas at El Paso with a Bachelor of Arts in Communications and a minor in General Business. She completed study abroad in Queretaro, Mexico at the Instituto Tecnológico y de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey. Her husband is attorney Raymundo Rojas. They have two children, Brisa and Silas.
